Camping

Want to camp, but not interested in driving out of town? Wheeler Historic Farm may have the answer for you! The backwoods of the farm is open for camping. This is great for scout outings, reunions, or any other outdoor event you can think of.


Maximum Occupancy: The backwoods can hold up to 200 people

Facilities Available

Restroom facilities are located on the north side of the Ice House and will be available 24 hours.

Safe drinking and cooking water can be found at the Ice House drinking fountains, and the red handled faucet directly West of the Ice House on the lawn. Do not use water from the creek, ponds or sprinklers.

Emergencies

There is a public phone by the Ice House restrooms.

Deposit: A 25% non-refundable deposit is required at the time of reservation to guarantee a reservation. A date cannot be held without the deposit. The fee is determined by the number of hours the building is rented for. A $50 no trace camping deposit is required

Rules and Regulations for Camping: The following rules must be followed to insure your safety and to preserve this activity for future participants.

Vehicles

No vehicles are allowed on the farm between 9am and 6pm.

Vehicle entry onto the farm is for loading and unloading purposes only. All vehicles are to be returned to the parking lot for the duration of your stay.

No speeding on the farm. If your speedometer registers – you are going to fast.

Campers and RV’s can remain in the parking lot, by permission only. They are not permitted in the woods.

Fires and No-Trace Camping

Open Flames are permitted in the designated fire pit only. No exceptions. All other campfires must be 18” off the ground.

All camping must be “No-Trace.” All groups are to clean up fully after themselves. Any group leaving their campsite dirty will not be refunded their cleaning deposit. Garbage cans can be found in the park area.

Some dry seasons there may be further fire restrictions.

Curfew and Supervision

Wheeler Farm has a strict evening curfew of 10pm. All lights must be out, fires extinguished, and quiet time observed. We have neighbors – please be considerate.

Please be sure to supervise the phone and restroom. There has been misuse of the phone (false 911 calls) and vandalism in the past.

No swimming or fishing is allowed on the farm.

General Farm Safety: You are welcome to roam and see the animals, but Farm animals are not domesticated. Some kick, bite, and peck. For this reason, do not feed the animals. Barbwire fences can be found throughout the farm. Please avoid contact with them. During the Spring, Little Cottonwood Creek runs high and fast. Be aware of this and your proximity to the creek at all times. There are electric power stations that are fenced by high wooden panels. Please don’t play in or around these enclosures.
