Historic Farm Life
Families
Families tended to be large on farms, regardless of
which era they were living in. The human population of a farm determined
how much work would get done and usually consisted of parents and
lots of children---sometimes grandparents and an aunt or uncle and
several hired hands. This is often called an extended family and
meant more hands to get the work done and more people to have fun.
